How to Remove the Wifi Module from the Asus WRX80E Motherboard

This document goes over how to remove the Wifi Module from the WRX80E motherboard. Please note that to remove the module, motherboard must be removed from the chassis. This cannot be done with the motherboard installed in the chassis.

Prerequisites

You will need the following tools:

  • Phillips #1 or #0 screwdriver
  • Phillips #2 screwdriver

Please be sure to use the mentioned screwdriver size(s) to avoid stripping the screws

Step 1: Remove the back side panel

  1. Remove the following screws circled in the image below. For the ones circled in red, use phillips #1 or #0. For the ones circled in blue, use phillips #2.
  2. Remove the panel from the motherboard

Step 2: Remove the rear I/O cover

  • Remove the 2x screws circled in the image below with a phillips #1 or #0 screwdriver

  • Remove the plastic cover

Step 3: Remove the I/O shield

  • Pop the retention clips on both sides to free the shield

  • Remove the IO shield

Step 4: Remove WIFI Module

  • Remove the 2x screws circled in the image below with a phillips #1 or #0 screwdriver

  • Pull the wifi module to remove it
