Enable PXE Booting for TS4-1598415

Document Scope

The default settings on the Exxact TS4-1598415 BIOS leave many options disabled including options related to PXE boot. To enable the system to boot from the network (PXE), a few settings need to be enabled. This article lists the required settings that need to be changed to enable PXE boot. A series of screenshots detail exactly what settings need to be changed within BIOS.

Default BIOS Settings

Below is a list of the network related settings and their default state in the Tyan BIOS.

  • Advanced Menu
    • OnBoard Device Configuration
      • Onboard LAN X550: Enable
    • Option ROM Dispatch Policy
      • OnBoard LAN1 (X550): Disabled
      • OnBoard LAN2 (X550): Disabled
    • Network Stack Configuration
      • Network Stack:      Disabled
      • IPv4 PXE Support:   Disabled
      • IPv4 HTTP Support:  Disabled
      • IPv6 PXE Support:   Disabled
      • IPv6 HTTP Support:  Disabled
      • PXE Boot wait time: 0
      • Media detect count: 1

Updated BIOS Settings

Change the setting below to enable boot from PXE:

  • Advanced Menu
    • Option ROM Dispatch Policy
      • OnBoard LAN1 (X550): Enabled
      • OnBoard LAN1 (X550) Option ROM type: PXE
      • OnBoard LAN2 (X550): Enabled
    • Network Stack Configuration
      • Network Stack:      Enabled
      • IPv4 PXE Support:   Enabled
      • IPv4 HTTP Support:  Enabled
      • IPv6 PXE Support:   Enabled
      • IPv6 HTTP Support:  Enabled
