Document Scope:

This article covers how to install CPU liquid cooler, with video demonstrations.

Prerequisites:

  • Pre-assembled Liquid CPU Cooler

Step 1: Lower liquid CPU cooler assembly into system.

Step 2: (If necessary) Apply thermal compound onto CPU.

Since only a CPU cooler assembly swap was performed, there were still CPU paste pre-applied. More thermal compound was applied on the areas that had some CPU label/cover exposed.

Step 3: Install cooling block.

Align four screws to mounting screw holes.

Fasten screws in a cross fashion as shown here.

Step 4: Plug the cooling block power.

Step 5: Screw the radiator-fan assembly to top of chassis.

Hold up the radiator fan assembly with one hand and fasten screws in a cross fashion as shown here. If the screws do not align, remove all screws instead of attempting to force them in.

Step 6: Position system upright (on its stands).

Step 7: Feed radiator fan cables through interior chassis cable-access cavity.

Step 8: Remove side panel and connect radiator fan cables.

Remove side panel.

Connect radiator fan cables.

Step 9: Replace side and top chassis panels.

Replace side panel.

Replace top chassis panel.

Step 10: Ensure none of the CPU cooling block and fan cables will get caught by chassis fans.

Move cables away from fans.

Tuck away the cables anywhere that will not touch any of the fans or cooling block.

Cable ties help, but are not completely necessary. You may use just enough so the cooling block power cable sits off to the side of the cooling block itself.

Step 11: Reinstall PCIe devices if you have removed them.

Done.
